A new breed of loan shark

When Javier Moreno lost one job and had his hours cut back at another, the payments on his family’s Ventura home were suddenly out of reach. Moreno considered giving the house back to the bank, but when advertisements for loan modifications flooded the airwaves and solicitors began arriving at his door with offers to cut his payments in half, he thought he’d found a way to save it.
